“Bhikkhus, before the sun rises in the morning, it must first be preceded by the dawn, which is
its forerunner.

“In the same manner, Bhikkhus, for a Bhikkhu to be developed in the Noble Eightfold Path, he
must first precede it all by becoming accomplished in his Radical Attention (Wise Reflection).

“Thus, Bhikkhus, by accomplishing himself in Radical Attention, the Bhikkhu, as a result, is able
to both cultivate and develop the Noble Eightfold Path.

“And how, Bhikkhus, can the Bhikkhu become accomplished in Radical Attention, as a result of
which, he is able to both cultivate and develop the Noble Eightfold Path?

“Here, Bhikkhus, the Bhikkhu cultivates and develops the Right View, which is secured and
supported by him secluding himself, as he becomes more and more dispassionate, while his
suffering reduces and comes to an end, all of which come to ripen and mature in him, as he
continues to relinquish and give up.

“Similarly, the Bhikkhu cultivates and develops the Right Intention, which is secured and
supported by him secluding himself, as he becomes more and more dispassionate, while his
suffering reduces and comes to an end, all of which come to ripen and mature in him, as he
continues to relinquish and give up.

“Similarly, the Bhikkhu cultivates and develops the Right Communication, which is secured and
supported by him secluding himself, as he becomes more and more dispassionate, while his

suffering reduces and comes to an end, all of which come to ripen and mature in him, as he
continues to relinquish and give up.
“Similarly, the Bhikkhu cultivates and develops the Right Action, which is secured and
supported by him secluding himself, as he becomes more and more dispassionate, while his
suffering reduces and comes to an end, all of which come to ripen and mature in him, as he
continues to relinquish and give up.

“Similarly, the Bhikkhu cultivates and develops the Right Livelihood, which is secured and
supported by him secluding himself, as he becomes more and more dispassionate, while his
suffering reduces and comes to an end, all of which come to ripen and mature in him, as he
continues to relinquish and give up.

“Similarly, the Bhikkhu cultivates and develops the Right Effort, which is secured and supported
by him secluding himself, as he becomes more and more dispassionate, while his suffering
reduces and comes to an end, all of which come to ripen and mature in him, as he continues to
relinquish and give up.

“Similarly, the Bhikkhu cultivates and develops the Right Mindfulness, which is secured and
supported by him secluding himself, as he becomes more and more dispassionate, while his
suffering reduces and comes to an end, all of which come to ripen and mature in him, as he
continues to relinquish and give up.

“And, the Bhikkhu cultivates and develops the Right Collectedness of Mind, which is secured
and supported by him secluding himself, as he becomes more and more dispassionate, while his
suffering reduces and comes to an end, all of which come to ripen and mature in him, as he
continues to relinquish and give up.

“Bhikkhus, this is, therefore, the manner in which the Bhikkhu becomes accomplished in Radical
Attention, as a result of which he both cultivates and develops the Noble Eightfold Path.”
