Five aggregates

Form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness are the five bases of clinging.

  1. Form: the material body and material phenomena.
  2. Feeling: pleasant, painful, or neutral experience.
  3. Perception: recognition and identification.
  4. Mental formations: intentions and other constructed mental activities.
  5. Consciousness: awareness through the six senses.

None of the five is permanent, satisfactory, or self.
