Phenomena arise and cease according to conditions; the twelve-link sequence explains the arising and cessation of suffering.
Ignorance conditions formations; formations condition consciousness; then name-and-form, the six sense bases, contact, feeling, craving, clinging, becoming, birth, and aging and death.
When ignorance and craving cease, the conditions that sustain suffering also cease.
