Five recollections

Frequently recollect aging, illness, death, separation from what is dear, and ownership of one’s kamma.

  1. I am subject to aging.
  2. I am subject to illness.
  3. I am subject to death.
  4. I must be separated from everyone and everything dear to me.
  5. I am the owner and heir of my kamma.

These recollections counter complacency and clarify what deserves attention.
